Design Tip For November

Sheets

They say you need three sets of sheets for your bed: one set on the bed, one set in the laundry and one set in the closet.  Rather than focusing on this adagio, focus on getting by with only two sets but buy the most luxurious linens your budget will allow. That daily crisp opulent feeling is a pleasure you do not want to deny yourself and is worth the extra money.

I would recommend pima or Egyptian cotton in a high thread count.  This cotton feels pleasant and soft and gives you that “hotel” feeling.   Do not exaggerate on the thread count.  The higher the thread count the thinner the thread and your sheets will not wear as well.  Also, I would avoid sateen sheets. To obtain the shiny sateen finish the fabric has to be woven loosely and as a result, the sheets will clump underneath you.  You want to step out of your bed the same way as you stepped in with tautly stretched sheets.
